ABOUT
Mark is a Dutch actor and singer, born in Leiden, The Netherlands.
His love for theatre became clear at a very early age, acting out plays and characters in the living room and at family events. Knowing he wanted to become an actor he therefore took drama lessons at his High school.
That he also had a talent for singing became clear at a later age. At the end of his High school period he was casted for the role Joseph in an amateur production of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Getting a real taste of what it was like to combine both disciplines, he then decided to pursue a career in Music Theatre.
Mark studied Music Theatre at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg, with singing teachers Edward Hoepelman and Ingrid Zeegers. During his last year he was part of the choir in the opera Carmen and played multiple parts in the music theatre show Wie is Loesje, both produced by Opera Zuid. After recieving his Bachelor of Music in 2014 he started his Master of Music at the same school. During this year he was part of the Young Talent Group of The M-lab, the show Carousel, and played Tamino in The Electric Flute by Opera Spanga. Mark ended up freezing his Master after the first year because he got cast in The Phantom of the Opera in Germany, as cover Monsieur André, Reyer and Passarino.
Then looking for a different adventure he travelled the world for six months, and afterwards decided to finish his Master of Music in Tilburg. During this year he also studied at The Meisner Acting Studio from Paul Dekker in Den Bosch and replaced Addo Kruizinga as Parsson Nathaniel at the end of the dutch tour of The War of the Worlds. Just after finishing his Master in 2018 he moved to Stuttgart to play in the German adaptation of the Broadway show Anastasia. Where he covered the two male leads, Dimtri and Gleb.
After Anastasia he returned to the Metronom Theatre in Oberhausen to be part of the cult musical Tanz der Vampire, as a swing and cover Herbert.
In the summer of 2021 Mark made his Austrian debut at the Seefestspiele Mörbisch as Tony in the musical West Side Story.
